My name is Tahlia, owner and trainer at Canine Heroes Dog Training. With a great love of animals and a passion for helping people, I decided to pursue dog training as a way to help improve the lives of both. Dog ownership can be hard, and while it might not always be as fun as you expected, I am here to remind you that this is ok, and way more common than you think. I can assure you that there is hope, and through education, accountability and support, I can help to identify your dog's issues and achieve your dog training goals. Ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and enriching life with your beloved canine companion.

I appreciate that every dog is different, which means training approaches may vary to find what works for your dog and your unique situation. I am always open to exploring a range of training techniques and styles to help you reach your goals. I possess extensive experience working with all breeds and I am certified by the National Dog Trainer Federation of Australia. I’m also committed to ongoing skill and knowledge development through the completion of regular seminars, courses and self-study. I have particular expertise in rescue dog rehabilitation, reactivity and puppy development.

If you are interested in 1 on 1 training or would just like to know more, I offer owners a FREE initial 1 hour consultation based at your residential address. This will include a behavioural assessment of your canine and an in depth discussion on the issues you are currently experiencing. Based on the information gathered in our session, I will offer you a personalized program, designed to meet your dogs' individual goals. This means each program will vary in content, structure and the number of recommended sessions.

However all programs will include the following:

  • 60-90 minute face-to-face sessions. Depending on your training goals these will be a mix of home and external locations.

  • Access to a vast range of online resources to supplement your practical sessions (including content overviews and videos).

  • The ability to contact your trainer between sessions for questions and queries.

Training services are available in the following areas:

“Tahlia came to help us train our new puppy and offered an extensive programme that considered the development of our dog and the lifestyle we want her to have...from the first session I could see the benefits of the training and we feel so much more confident now that our puppy will grow up to be happy, polite and well rounded."

-Kate, owner of Scout

"Tahlia has been an absolutely amazing trainer and mentor! She has great advice, uses positive reinforcement and our girl adores her. We regularly send videos of Belle’s progress or other snapshots and Tahlia will give advice on how we can improve and what to work on between sessions. She also gives great resources and homework to keep us on track."

-Rene, owner of Belle

"We have utilised her board and train, walk and train, crate training and at home training, all have been extremely valuable. Within 3 months there were extremely positive changes in my anxious reactive dog and his adjustment to having a baby in the house. It has been over 12 months and we still use her services, my dog is a whole new dog."

-Chanel, owner of Gomez
